What is CareerOS?

CareerOS is a free, bring-your-own-API-key job search workspace that tailors resumes to a specific job description, audits them for ATS keyword and requirement gaps, exports polished LaTeX PDFs, and tracks applications and referrals from saved to offer.

How does CareerOS tailor a resume to a job description?

You paste a job description and your resume. CareerOS extracts the keywords, must-have requirements and core responsibilities a recruiter screens on, rewrites your resume to surface the matching evidence, then fact-checks the result against your original resume and any supporting documents you supplied. Anything it cannot verify is flagged or removed before you see it.

Does CareerOS invent experience or metrics?

No. The model is instructed never to add employers, titles, dates, degrees or numbers, and an automatic integrity check compares every figure and employer in the output against your own evidence. Unsupported claims are repaired, and anything still unverified is shown to you before you send.

How is the ATS score calculated?

Six of the seven dimensions are deterministic: keyword coverage weighted by importance, keywords proven in experience bullets rather than only listed, job title alignment, quantified impact, action verbs and resume formatting. Only experience relevance is judged by the model, so the same resume always scores the same and version-to-version changes are meaningful.

Is CareerOS free?

Yes. CareerOS is free to use with your own Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude or OpenAI API key. Your key is encrypted, and your resumes and applications stay in your own account, isolated by row-level security.

How does the interview practice work?

CareerOS generates the interview for a specific job from that job description and your tailored resume: questions that probe your strongest claims, gap probes for requirements you have not evidenced, plus the follow-ups and red flags a real interviewer would use. You then practise by speaking (browser dictation, so no audio leaves your device) or by typing, and each answer is rated 1-5 on role fit, impact, specificity, credibility, structure and communication. The weighted result becomes a 0-100 score and a hire recommendation from strong no to strong yes.

What does the credibility score mean?

It measures whether your answer holds up against your own resume: consistent facts, honest ownership of team work versus your own, and no dodged questions. Where an answer contradicts the resume, CareerOS flags it so you can fix the story or the resume before an interviewer finds the gap.

Can I store the resume I actually sent to a company?

Yes. Attach the exact PDF or Word file you sent to any application and it is kept privately with that job, alongside the tailored version it came from and the date you sent it. Files are stored per account in private storage and reachable only through short-lived links.

Can CareerOS track referrals instead of job applications?

Yes. When you pursue a role through someone in your network instead of a posting, you can log who you contacted, the message you sent and when — CareerOS links that person to your network, reminds you to follow up, and reports the response rate of referrals against ordinary applications.
